Contents of this pack:
This pack includes:
- 1 Residual Current Device (RCD) AT WGB Type B – 1P+N – 63A – 30mA
- 1 Schneider bipolar magnetic-thermal circuit breaker – 50A or 63A – Curve C
Type B Electrical Protection Pack for JUPITER dual-socket charging station – single-phase 7 kW + 3.6 kW
The following electrical protections are mandatory and must be installed on a dedicated line.
Protections required for single-phase connection with JUPITER dual-socket:
- Residual Current Device 63A – Type B – 1P+N – 30mA
- Circuit breaker 50A or 63A – Curve C
1/ Type B 63A single-phase Residual Current Device (RCD)
The Type B RCD – 1P+N – 63A – 30mA is essential for any EV charger installation.
It compares the incoming current with the outgoing current and cuts the circuit if the difference exceeds 30mA. This feature protects people from electric shocks.
It must be used together with a circuit breaker.
Installation
The RCD must be installed on a line dedicated exclusively to the charging station, after the main RCD in the electrical panel.
The charging station must have its own dedicated line, circuit breaker, and RCD.
Main specifications:
- Type: B
- Poles: 1P+N
- Rated current: 63A max
- Rated residual current: 30mA
2/ Schneider 50A or 63A bipolar circuit breaker
The Schneider magnetic-thermal circuit breaker 2P – 50A or 63A – Curve C is essential for any JUPITER dual-socket single-phase charging station installation. It protects the system against overvoltage and short circuits.
Its Curve C is suitable for high-intensity devices such as EV chargers. Its high breaking capacity and fast cut-off mechanism ensure safety, reliability, and long service life.
It must be paired with a residual current device.
Installation
It must be installed in the electrical panel, on the RCD dedicated to the charging station. The station must have its own dedicated line, circuit breaker, and RCD.
Main specifications:
- Number of poles: 2
- Power supply: 230V
- Rated current: 50A or 63A
- Breaking capacity: 4.5–6kA
Mandatory electrical protections to be installed on a dedicated line.
Installation specifications for single-phase or three-phase Wallbox
A Wallbox charging station must be installed on a dedicated line, with its own circuit breaker coupled with its own residual current device. Below are the specifications to ensure compliance:
Single-phase installation:
- Residual current device: Type B, 30mA, 2P or 1P+N, max. 63A (a Type A, F or Hpi is sufficient, instead of Type B, if the charging station is equipped with a DC leakage current detector)
- Circuit breaker: Minimum Curve C, minimum breaking capacity 3kA, 2P or 1P+N, 16 to 40A (choose 3 to 8A more than the rated current of the charging station)
Three-phase installation:
- Residual current device: Type B, 30mA, 4P, max. 63A (a Type A, F or Hpi is sufficient, instead of Type B, if the charging station is equipped with a DC leakage current detector)
- Circuit breaker: Minimum Curve C, minimum breaking capacity 3kA, 4P or 3P+N, 16 to 40A (choose 3 to 8A more than the rated current of the charging station)
Cable cross-sections for connections, according to French standards NF C15-100 and NF C15-722:
- Wallbox charging station 16A or 16A socket, cable length less than 100m: cable cross-section 2.5mm²
- Wallbox charging station 32A, cable length less than 100m: cable cross-section 10mm²
Overview of cable cross-sections for connections (NF C15-100 and NF C15-722):
| Rated current | Circuit breaker rating | Minimum cross-section | |
| Charging station or socket | 16A | 20A | 2.5mm² |
| Charging station | 32A | 40A | 10mm² |
| Charging station | 63A | 80A | 16mm² |
