Type B Electrical Protection Pack for 22 kW Three-Phase Charging Station.

The following electrical protections are mandatory and must be installed on a dedicated line.

Protections required for a three-phase connection:
    - RCCB 40A – Type B – 3P+N – 30mA
    - Circuit breaker 40A – Curve C – 3P+N – Breaking capacity 10kA

1/ Type B RCCB 40A Three-Phase
The Type B RCCB – 3P+N – 40A – 30mA is essential for any EV charger installation.

It compares the input and output currents and cuts the circuit if the difference exceeds 30mA, protecting users from electric shock.

Compatible with all three-phase charging stations
This RCCB is compatible with all three-phase chargers on the market operating between 1A and 32A, including those without built-in DC fault current detection.

If your charger already includes DC fault current detection, a less expensive Type A RCCB will be sufficient.

It must be paired with a circuit breaker.

Installation
It must be installed on a dedicated line for the charging station, downstream from the main RCCB in the electrical panel.

The charger must have its own dedicated line, its own circuit breaker, and its own RCCB.

2/ Schneider 40A Three-Phase Circuit Breaker
The Schneider Acti9 iC Thermal Magnetic Circuit Breaker – 3P+N – 40A – Curve C is essential for any charging station installation. It protects the system from overloads and short circuits.

Its Curve C is suitable for high-intensity devices like EV chargers. Its high breaking capacity and fast tripping mechanism ensure safety, reliability, and long service life.

Compatibility
This breaker is suitable for charging stations configured between 6A and 32A.

It must be paired with the RCCB.

Installation
It must be installed in the electrical panel, paired with the RCCB dedicated to the charging station. The station must have its own dedicated line, with its own breaker and RCCB.

Installation specifications for single-phase or three-phase Wallbox

A Wallbox charging station must be installed on a dedicated line, with its own circuit breaker coupled with its own residual current device. Below are the specifications to ensure compliance:

Single-phase installation:
- Residual current device: Type B, 30mA, 2P or 1P+N, max. 63A (a Type A, F or Hpi is sufficient, instead of Type B, if the charging station is equipped with a DC leakage current detector)
- Circuit breaker: Minimum Curve C, minimum breaking capacity 3kA, 2P or 1P+N, 16 to 40A (choose 3 to 8A more than the rated current of the charging station)

Three-phase installation:
- Residual current device: Type B, 30mA, 4P, max. 63A (a Type A, F or Hpi is sufficient, instead of Type B, if the charging station is equipped with a DC leakage current detector)
- Circuit breaker: Minimum Curve C, minimum breaking capacity 3kA, 4P or 3P+N, 16 to 40A (choose 3 to 8A more than the rated current of the charging station)

Cable cross-sections for connections, according to French standards NF C15-100 and NF C15-722:
- Wallbox charging station 16A or 16A socket, cable length less than 100m: cable cross-section 2.5mm²
- Wallbox charging station 32A, cable length less than 100m: cable cross-section 10mm²
